BigCommerce App

The AltText.ai BigCommerce App automatically generates optimized alt text for your product images, using our InstantAlt website script.

Installation

From the BigCommerce App Marketplace

  • Visit the AltText.ai listing on the BigCommerce App Marketplace, or just search for AltText.ai in the marketplace.
  • Click on the AltText.ai listing, then click Get This App to button to add it to your store.

Setup

When you install the app, you will connect the Shopify app to your AltText.ai account via your API Key.

  1. Click the Connect button, which will take you to your AltText.ai account to select an API key. You may need to login first if you are not already logged in.

  2. Select an existing API Key, or just create a new one to use.

  3. You will be returned to the BigCommerce App, and your selected API Key will be connected!

  4. Now just click the Install InstantAlt Script button to activate the script on your store's pages.

Basic Usage

Once you install our BigCommerce app, the alt text for your product images will be added automatically on your store's website. There is nothing else you have to do -- just relax and let our InstantAlt script handle the work for you.

When someone views a product page in a browser, our script instantly fetches our SEO-optimized alt text and inserts it into the HTML. Note that if you are loading a page for the very first time that we haven't processed yet, it may take a few minutes for alt text to appear (usually once the page is loaded for the 2nd time).

What Was Processed

To see what images have been processed, just login to your AltText.ai account online, and view your Images library. This will show you the urls of all images processed in your account, along with thumbnail views of the processed images. You should see your product images here, along with the generated alt text.

Note

You can edit the alt text in your library, and it will be updated on your store's website. However, it make take several minutes for the new alt text to be reflected on your site due to data caching.
